Accelerated Pilot Training VS. Collegiate Flight Training: Which Path Is Right For You?

Are you ready to soar through the skies by pursuing an aviation career? At UND Aerospace Foundation, we offer two exceptional flight training programs designed to cater to the unique needs of aspiring pilots like you.

Whether you’re seeking an accelerated pilot training path or prefer a collegiate flight training experience, our pilot training programs are designed to help you achieve your aviation dreams.

Accelerated Pilot Training: Fast-Track Your Aviation Career

If you’re eager to dive headfirst into aviation training and quickly acquire the necessary skills and certifications to become a professional pilot, our Accelerated Pilot Training Program is the ideal choice. This path is ideal for non-traditional students looking to make a swift career change and move into aviation. Here’s what sets this program apart:

Fast Paced

As the name suggests, the accelerated flight training program is designed to provide a rapid but comprehensive training experience, allowing you to complete your flight training in as little as 12 months.

You’ll undergo an intensive curriculum covering all essential aviation aspects, preparing you for a successful career as a professional pilot. Plus, the fast and streamlined nature of the program ensures that you make the most of your time and resources.

Focused And Efficient Learning

By enrolling in the accelerated program, you can fully immerse yourself in aviation training without the additional coursework associated with a college degree. This will enable you to focus on acquiring the necessary skills, knowledge, and certifications to become a competent pilot.

A Rigorous Curriculum

At UND Aerospace Foundation, we have a rigorous FAA-approved curriculum developed in collaboration with the FAA, Boeing, industry-leading airlines, and world-class airline pilots to provide an unparalleled flight training experience.

Collegiate Flight Training Program: A Comprehensive Aviation Education

If you prefer a more structured and comprehensive flight training path, our 2-year Collegiate Flight Training Program in collaboration with the Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) Aviation Program is the perfect fit.

This path combines UND’s excellence in flight training with CGCC’s dynamic learning environment and is best suited for younger students who may find it challenging to keep up with the fast-paced and rigorous nature of our accelerated flight training path. It is also ideal for individuals eyeing an employment opportunity where an aviation-specific college degree is a requirement. Here’s what to expect:

Comprehensive Training

The collegiate program combines our outstanding flight training with supporting coursework, allowing you to obtain an Associate’s Degree in Airway Science Technology while earning your private, instrument, commercial, and flight instructor’s certificates.) concurrently.

Paced Learning

Our 2-year collegiate pilot program follows a term/semester-based curriculum, providing a well-structured and paced learning environment – perfect for young aspiring pilots.

Access To Financial Aid

Opting for the collegiate program opens doors to a broader pool of financial aid programs, including student loans, scholarships, and access to Federal Student Aid. This support can help to alleviate the financial burden often associated with flight training, making your aviation education more accessible.

The Option To Start Working Or Further Your Education

Upon successfully completing the collegiate flight training program, you will graduate with an Associate’s Degree in Airway Science Technology and training that culminates with a commercial pilot’s license and flight instructor certificate allowing you to transition directly into the workforce should you choose to.

For those looking to further their studies, you can enroll at our parent university – the University of North Dakota (UND), Grand Forks, for an additional two years and upgrade your associate’s degree in Airway Science Technology to a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Studies. This program can be completed online or in person.
