Accelerated Private Pilot Training
A private pilot license is the most basic requirement needed to fly a single-engine aircraft for personal or recreational purposes. It is also the first step towards becoming a commercial pilot or airline transport pilot. Our accelerated private pilot training program at the UND Aerospace Foundation is designed to help you obtain this license in as little as 2 months.
Ideally located at the Phoenix Mesa-Gateway Airport in Arizona, the UND Aerospace Foundation is a nationally-acclaimed leader in aerospace learning and your partner in becoming a top-tier professional pilot . We have a well-structured curriculum that was developed in partnership with the FAA, Boeing, multiple industry-leading airlines, and world-class airline pilots to give you an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to safely operate an aircraft.
Prerequisites for Enrollment
To qualify for our private pilot training program, you must meet the following prerequisites:
- be at least 17 years old and have a current student pilot certificate (the latter is not a must when beginning training)
- be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- have at least a third-class FAA medical examination
What Does the Accelerated Private Pilot Training Entail?
Training to become a private pilot involves both ground classes and hands-on flight training using state-of-the-art simulators and single-engine aircraft. Some of the areas and topics you will cover include pilot regulations and safety, cross-country navigation, aerodynamics, aircraft operations, radio communications, weather theory and effects on flying, single-engine aircraft systems, and proper aircraft operation and handling.
You will then move on to basic skills and maneuvers such as takeoffs, landings, climbs, descents, stalls, turns, and night flying. Once you have mastered these skills and logged at least 40 hours of flight time, you will be eligible to take the FAA private pilot knowledge test and check ride, and obtain a private pilot license. With your private pilot license in hand, you can start flying for personal and recreational purposes or move on to more advanced training in multi-engine aircraft and commercial pilot certification.
Why Join UND Aerospace Foundation?
Our private pilot training is designed to meet and exceed the required standards of the modern aviation industry and offers student pilots the chance to fast-track their flight training and become certified pilots in just a few weeks!
This not only allows our students to progress through flight training much more rapidly, but it also helps them save significant time and expense by letting them complete the required flight training in a fraction of the time it would have taken them to complete the same certification using the traditional route.
